Hey, Terrence, check out Five on Friday. Inu isn't finished yet! Perhaps, with more to come, it won't be such a disappointment for you after all.

I know he didn't say 3d client, but there are 2 clients as it is. I'm not going to get into word games here, but maybe DS's note was not well thought out in making anything clear. Nothing has been stated this way or that and we all can assume what we want, I'll leave it at Quote: |

I am sure if there is enough interest Wilki might be willing to create the "Stick Figure Client" for those wishing for a 1d client.

| You are correct. They never said it was a 3D upgrade. (or 2D) They said they are updating the client. I would hope it replaces both just for the sake of Dev time/updating etc... Neither of our current clients are worth saving. The screenshots look so good they could actually get me to use it even if it IS 2D!!

Congratulations!
You are one of the very first to get a glimpse of a reborn Ultima Online. We won't be releasing more details for a bit, but we do want to let you know a few things:
1. We are completely re-building the Ultima Online client with new graphics and a new easier-to-use interface.
2. It is an in-place upgrade. That means you will be able to keep your characters, items, houses and everything else you've earned over the past nine years.
3. We are committed to maintaining extremely low system specs. They will be higher than what UO launched with in 1997, but will still be far lower than almost any other MMORPG on the market.
4. The launch will happen in 2007.
5. There are many, many more surprises in store.
The Ultima Online development team has been working hard for the past eight months to make real the vision of a thriving, vibrant Ultima Online. We are proud to finally let you in on our secret. Look for a full announcement soon.

Wow, not worth saving? *points you to other games* There you go.
Personally I think those screen shots look like utter ****. The dragon looks like someone's pet hydra dog. The concept art page is filled with things suffering from the current trend of "space alien bug" influence.

Well I think we are all getting the jist of your feelings Terrance, loud and clear.
I guess if everyone felt the same ,it would be very boring.
So you dont like any thing thats planned for the future of UO and you havent enjoyed anything about the Inu plot,so what are you plans now ,out of interest?
Personally I detest playing in 3d,so hope a;lso they dont change that, but it wont stop me playing the game,as I just love it too much |

That's just it though: It'll be an entirely new game.
You can carry over every statistic and item ownership data associated with any character in any game to any other game, whether it's a computer game or pencil & paper, but if you change to a different game...you change to a different game. It would be more accurate for people to say "we're looking forward to the new game which will replace UO" rather than "we're looking forward to the future of UO". *shrugs*
When they replace the 2D game with this new one, the only thing "Ultima Online" which will continue on is the franchise, with an entirely new game. It would be more appropriate to just call this UO2 or the "next" UO and not just strip us of the game we have now, drop this on us, and expect us all to keep on playing an entirely new game like nothing happened.

Ultima Online is not the game engine or some trinket given out in the past. UO is the spirit and imagination of the players who play the game. Its the players who develop the UO Community, not a bunch of pixels and a random number generator.
