Ok, in the Air Force, we have Physical Fitness Assessments every year. 3 years ago, they implimented a new program, where they do a abdomninal measurement, 1.5 mile run, situps, and pushups test on you. They add the scores up and you pass, fail, or get a marginal(meaning you retest in 3 months) Well.... 3 months ago, I had to do mine. I was currently under treatment for a neck injury and a tumor in my back, and could not run, so I had to do the stupid bicycle test, where they strap a monitor to your heart and you fail, cause the system sucks and has been flawed for YEARS. I went from a passing score the year before, to terribly failing this year. Ok, fine whatever, I went and redid the test a few weeks later, saying screw it, I will suffer through the run and just get it over with. Well, I got a marginal, as my back felt like it was going to explode, and I had to take 3 days of leave to recover from it.

Today I had to test again. I just had back surgery 4 weeks ago, so I can not perform these tasks. They said, we will just do the waist measurement, and bike crap again. Ok, whatever. I do fine on the waist thing, then do the bike test again today. Failed miserably. They gave me the equivelant of a 27 minute 1.5 mile run, where I ran it in under 13 min last year. Hmmmm, maybe something could be wrong with the system you think?????? This is TOTAL BS!!!!!!!!!!!!! So now, once again, I have to go and do this same CRAP again in 3 months. WHY CANT THEY JUST LEAVE ME THE HELL ALONE. I just had back surgery, they know this, and cant just let me recover and do the full test when healthy again. Its bull!!!! like this that makes me soooooooooooooooo look forward and count the days til I separate. 29 Mar 07.

Sounds ALOT like when my dad was in the Air force... Benifits were good but they did not seem to give a DAMN about anyone so he left and is happen in a normal job. He retired after 20 long fecking years of the air force putting hinm through that same or similar bull S. as you are going through =/

Nope, they are an equal opportunity torture machine. They treat their people like garbage and wonder why nobody stays. They used to offer incentives to re-enlist, like bonus's and what not. Well in the last year, they took them all away. They are now replacing the National Guard in Iraq with Air Force Civil Eingineers, and cops, having them do 400 day deployments with no notice. Its like, "hey, you're leaving next week, pack up and say bye to the kids"

I was deployed with the Army 2 years ago, and really saw how they treated their people. I do not know how ANYONE would want to subject themselves to that. They treat their people like lesser human beings. Its almost sickening.

My boss just separated after 10 years, she was pissed at the way things were turning, and threw away 10 years. She was an E6, halfway to retirement, but said screw it. She had enough. When I get out in March, it will have been 9 1/2 years down the drain...Sad that they are treating their people that bad, and having the younger troops see that their supervisors are getting out. It is not a very good retainment tool, to see soo many higher rank people saying "piss off, I'm out of here"

Thats all it is. You are nothing but a number waiting in line in the military. It isnt about morale for their people anymore, its all about, "who do we have ready to go to Iraq today?"

The Air Force is a Country Club, compared to my time in the Army. It sounds like the Air Force adopted The Army's Physical Fitness Test. Sorry to hear that Bull!!!! is dominant in all branches, especially the Air Force. Hope things get better for you.

I have my own issues with the military and how the goverment treats them not only do they want you to die for this country they want you to be a human test subject
so im not surprised at all how they treat people i just hope they burn in hell for it

The AF has adopted just about everything the Army has. We are broken down to S functions now, we use the soldiers manual. Have Combat skills training days, do convoys constantly, CQC training, all types of field training. It no longer is job first, deploy second. Glad I spent 8 months learning how to become an Electrician, only to spend 80% of the time learning Army way of life now....


As far as the test subject, I can completley attest to that one. I had to take the Anthrax vaccine when it was on the chopping block, but had to get it anyways, and even since they have stopped making it mandatory, they still make you get it if you started the series. I had to get all 6 shots, plus the smallpox. I had to get smallpox vaccine when going to Qatar....???...???? Uh, that is a small VERY strict no terrorist country. What the hell is the threat there?
