The Lord Protector of Yew stood before his assembled men and saw that many had come to his aid. The anarchist Rebels had managed to capture two Vesperian Islands in the last week and it was only a matter of time before they would strike again. His scouts and spies had already come back with reports of Rebel forces massing on the outskirts of Vesper. "Well then, they're not the only ones who can strike unsuspected. March out!", he shouted to his men. The mood was joyous and upbeat as few of the assembled fighters doubted they would push the Loyalists further into retreat. Perhaps they would even be forced out of Vesper altogether today! Kiran had hired the services of an exceptionally well disciplined Southern mercenary regiment to seal the advantage. Battleorders were being formed, squadleaders were being assigned, some weapons were still being handed out when..... "FOR KING AND VIRTUE!", "DEATH TO THE REBELS!" Taking the element of surprise, the Loyalist strikeforce cut deep into the Rebel ranks, hacking and slashing frantically. But it was quickly agreed that the Loyalists had managed to slip into the City and would launch an attack on the Freedomfighter Garrisons there! The swift strike at the Rebel gathering had caught them offguard and many rebels were slain in the proces. Unfortunately he'd lost more men then he would have liked. Nevertheless, the initiative was now clearly in their hands and perhaps the window of opportunity had not quite been lost. "Rally the men! We're breaking this Siege! To Arms! Despite loosing the Covian Captain in the first onslaught, the remaining leaders quickly organised the defense and made short work of the attackers. They had clearly gambled, and lost. Still chasing the remaining Loyalist Soldiers, no-one seemed to be in the mood to make any further liberation attempts. Much lives had been lost this day, and no ground was gain. I have started by posting a link to one of Vespers allies in the recent conflicts.
They have kept a great account of things with screenshots.
If you scroll right down to the bottom of the page you will be able to see how things progressed from the early days of June.

I feel the necessity to report on certain matters in Vesper. Yesterday, after returning from the Valorian Museum Opening, I found myself visiting an old business acquaintance in Vesper. Just as I was about to cross the first bridge into Vesper I found some men wearing no badge or insignia. Shortly afterwards one was referred to as Madsen and another as Ditriteous, making little secret of the fact they were indeed Loyalists. They had dug this huge pit and an elderly gentleman was obviously trapped inside. I inquired the men what on earth they were doing but before I realised it, one of them pushed me hard in the back and down the rabbithole I went!<o:p></o:p> <img src="http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/5301/trap7yb.jpg" style="width: 318px; height: 246px" /> Elderly Gentleman Trapped By Loyalists!<o:p></o:p> After calmly dusting my self off they kept firing all sorts of rubbish at the obviously frightened old man. They kept accusing him he was a Vesperian rebel and that he should disclose the location of rebel hideouts. The entire scene was quite irritating and I demanded to be released from the trap and their nonsense! I quickly displayed a document clearly stating I had worked for the Loyalists before and was not a rebel. The reaction was actually quite surprising.<o:p></o:p> <img src="http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/8279/guthim3ne.jpg" style="width: 227px; height: 76px" /> Loyalists, Defenders Of Virtues?<o:p></o:p> One of the guards helped me out of the pit and shortly after the elderly chap was released as well. He made no effort in concealing his displeasement with the treatment he received and quickly walked off muttering and moaning as he leaned on his walking stick. Shortly afterwards the men left the area, leaving a gaping hole in the ground. When they finally joined with their comrades in arms, the Freedom Army had swollen to humongous proportions. It seemed like more and more fighters were joining their cause. Every fighter there knew that they had right and justice on their side and that the North would be free from oppression and censorship oncemore!<o:p></o:p> <img src="http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/7431/prepare2je.jpg" style="width: 451px; height: 362px" /> Freedomfighters Fill The Square<o:p></o:p> On a signal by the Covian Captain, three portals were opened and the Freedomfighters appeared outside one of their sentries holding the recently captured Islands. It was time to press their advantage and push those Loyalists into the Sea! It was time for bloody deeds and to fulfil oaths of vengeance and retribution! It was time to Free the North! The Freedomfighters rushed over the bridge, heedless of projectiles and arrows raining down on them. Loyalists were slain left and right as the streets and channels of Vesper coloured a bloody red. Fighting never really stopped that night as small bands of Loyalists kept harassing the Freedomfighters. <o:p></o:p> <img src="http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/8923/battle2ki.jpg" style="width: 454px; height: 504px" /> Battle Rages Throughout Vesper<o:p></o:p> Without any defendable stronghold left the Freedomfighters moved through the Islands at will and secured as much territory as they could. It was clear that the back of the Loyalists was now broken and little, if any resistance would be met. Will this complete the Liberation of Vesper? Have the Loyalist Garrisons been drained by the relentless assaults? Or could it be some tactical manoeuvring on their part? In the heat of the moment, could it be that the Freedomfighters now think Vesper secure, but have only stepped into the Loyalist trap?
