Bear in mind if you do buy, chapter 1 and 2 are seperate games, if you buy chapter 2 you dont get chapter one included (no monthly fees, gotta make money somehow ). Saying that, if you get factions later on, you can upgrade your account so you can go to both chapter 1 and 2. Just got to buy each of them seperatly, and like i say, if your ony trying the game, chapter 1 will be cheaper (10 quid in game). Lots of newbies have appeared in chapter 1 recently so im assuming lotsa people grabbed it when the price dropped

I just bought Factions...I don't have Prophecies. But I figure if I get into it, I will buy Chapter 1 later.

I'm still on the starting island for Factions! LOL There is so much to do...and I do love the storyline.

But I have the map on my wall...and when I play I keep looking at it saying "when do I get to go over to the mainland!!!??" hehe

What is the PvM like there? I have always said I wouldn't PvP even if it was free....and I mean it. From what I've read about GW it sounds very PvP oriented. Is it really or is that just a sells technique?

Is the PvM interesting and varied enough? Is it there a PvP switch/area?? Just curious. The screen shots look great.

PvM is pretty fun. You and your group have your own instanced zone...which is nice. Personally...I have almost finished the whole beginning end, and I haven't once grouped with real people.

Ok ok...yeah i'm antisocial I guess. lol. But I love being able to group with the NPCs and play a mission.

Unless things change on the mainland a lot, I think the PvM is great. I haven't seen any PvP. *thinks* Come to think about it, I don't know how the PvP works in GuildWars

*winks* for PvP just start a PvP character and take a pre made template for it. Youll get a feel for 4v4 pretty quick.

As for PvM, something thradia wont have gotten to yet. The game works in way that when your in town you can swap your skills and stats about as much as you want, but you can only leave town with 8 skills in your skill bar. As the game goes on you can aquire something like 80 - 100 skills per profession. The main proffesion you start your character with can never change (once your a ranger, your always a ranger) but you get to choose a secoundary proffesion as a support as it were. This can be changed as much as you want when you reach the end game. If you have factions, then theres 8 proffessions, and im sure you can see thats a hell of a lot of skill choices. By the time youve unlocked all the skills for your main proffesion and a few from the other proffesions you will have a massivley varied gameplay in PvM. I feel it did get a bit samey for me untill i started to work the other skills then realised quite how diverse a single character can be.

Basicaly, for PvM, imagine you could end up with every skill in UO on your character, once trained it wouldnt have to be trained ever again (yays for not as much grind!). BUT! you could only leave town with 700-720 skill points on your character. As you can imagine that would make your character a lot more intresting and would give you a much more diverse hunting character.

Alright alright alright... I'm sold.

Just hope my 486 (overclocked ) can handle it... wonder how it's going to look with my 16-bit color scheme.

I'll have to look for Chapter 1 'cause I've only seen Factions out everywhere I go.

I don't see the game requirements on the website, I only have 256 ram and I know SWG ran like sludge on my computer...

Reqs are the same for both, fraid a 486 wont be enough.

It wont lag as badly as most games except for cities cause when you leave town you effectivly get your own personal sub server. My girlfriend plays on dial up and moves faster in GW than in UO (literaly, the games perfectly smooth playing with GW, and well, lets be honest, in UO you spot dial up a mile off!).
