Gaining Justice.
I posted a reply some where about how I would like to be able to achieve all 8 virtues on the paper doll gump.Especially as I am a GM of a Knightly Order, the rp benefits would be wonderful.
Some one made a point about the Justice Virtue ,but I cant for the life of me remember where it was posted or by who *looks sheepish * So I went to try find some help for the person, wich I will post here. Should you come across the other thread ,please send me the link hehe Cheers All * Players may activate their Justice Virtue ability by double-clicking the Justice icon on the Virtue window, then targeting an innocent character. o A player may only offer their protection while the target innocent character is within a non-consensual Player-versus-player (PvP) ruleset area (i.e. the Felucca facet). However, moving into a consensual PvP ruleset area (i.e. the Trammel or Ilshenar facets) will not break the protection relationship. + If the target character is already protected or in a consensual PvP ruleset area, the Justice player will receive a system message stating "You cannot protect that innocent right now." # The target of the protection offer will not be disturbed in any way (they will not receive any message or window). # This condition will not count against the player's 1 offer per 15-minute limit. # If the Justice player is inside their 1 offer per 15-minute limit, they will receive a message stating "You must wait a while before offering your protection again." o Players that are offered protection will be given a special request notice: "{Player-one} is offering you protection. Do you accept the offer from this pursuer of Justice?" + The target innocent may decline protection by selecting "no" on the request window. If the target innocent declines protection from a pursuer of Justice, then that Justice character may not request to protect any innocent again for at least 15 minutes. o Although a character may protect any number of innocents, an innocent may only have one protector at any given time. o At any time, a protected player may break the protection relationship by selecting a context menu option on their own character labeled "Cancel Protective Relationship." + Upon cancellation, both players that were in the protective relationship will receive the message, "The protective relationship between {Player-one} and {Player-two} has been ended." o The protective relationship will be broken should either character log out. * The benefits of Justice-based protection are only in effect while both characters are within the same non-consensual PvP ruleset area. o Whenever a protected character receives one a "scroll of power" as a reward for killing a champion of evil (the "boss monster" from a dynamic spawn area), the protector will also have a chance to receive an exact copy of that same scroll of power. + Each step gained in Justice will progressively grant the character a greater chance to receive scrolls of power in this manner. # First step: 60% chance # Second step: 80% chance # Third step: 100% chance + The protector must be on the same server as the protected character in order to have the possibility of receiving a scroll of power in such a manner. For example, no benefits are in effect while the protector is in the dungeon server and the protected character is in the Lost Lands. + Protectors that receive scrolls of power in this manner will receive a notification: "You have been rewarded for your dedication to Justice!"

Re: Gaining Justice.
This is a bit off topic but god the Virtue system annoys me so much. It has nothing to do with actually following the virtues in game, just some silly repeated tasks that really don't mean a thing in regards to how you behave morally in the world.
So you gain compassion for escorting people in need, fine. Funnily enough you don't lose compassion for madly slaying anything that moves. Gaining Honor by killing stuff properly, yet whatever smack talk you spew has no effect on your honor, nor does your honor decrease for gimpy cowardly choices... and then there's Justice, sure killing murderers is a good thing but killing your willing friend over and over again who happens to be red, where's the point? Implementing the virtues properly in a MMOG is probably damn near impossible, but taking a different approach to them could still bring them into the game... rather than making them some sort of attribute you can gain in, they could have a place and purpose in the world itself. Being more visible and integral to our surroundings. For instance, entering certain dungeons could require performing some quest related to the corresponding Virtue, no points gained, you just get familiar with the Virtue and act according to it. People in the Britannian towns should behave accordingly to their patron Virtue - NPCs in Britain would speak different phrases than ones in Moonglow, their virtues being Compassion and Honesty respectively. etc etc. Having the Virtues simply more present and prominent in the world rather than some little point gathering operation where no one cares about the Virtue but only the benefits they give would, uh, rock.

Each squire has to go down the Virtue trail. The plan is that this is done a virtue at a time.SO Chosen Virtue. Give squire any in game /player made books to study on that virtue. Complete any quests available ie Hags Quest. After quest visit corresponding shrine. Squire then has to logg the path in a player made book. There are of course now the 8 new quests wich also enable us to have a little more game mechanic related to each virtue. These give a nice RP/deco item too and enable further RP promotion . I too wish their was a more vurtue suitable quests to achieve and gave a title like the Champ spawns do. I guess we just have to utilise whats there though and roleplay it as best we can Quote:
At present I am trying to find a fairly 'quiet' area of fel, where my guild could go as a group, and a guarded squire earn the Virtue. The Squires mentor would escort them there, guard the squire and both then gain experience with the mentor gaining in Justice.

Re: Gaining Justice.
Thing is though, your squire has to be the one who gets a kill shot on a red, and chances are if theres a red out there, its not going to really be a quiet area. And he wont lay down and take a death from someone who in his eyes is a "trammy newb" as they consider all blues to be. I think, and correct me if I'm wrong, Ly-Las was offering himself as someone to gain justice from.
You gotta kill quite a few reds to gain a path as well. I dont know the exact number but its alot more than 1. Best of luck though, its always fun hearing that justice jingle when you gain it!

Re: Gaining Justice.
I believe also, that you can only gain justice from 1 person every 24 hours. I think that is the time frame. You will hear the justice jingle everytime, but you will not gain dots everytime. Basically saying, you cant go and knight justice off of killing 1 guy 20 times in a row.

Re: Gaining Justice.
Not sure if its 24 hours, think theres something about rez killing with kill counts and justice. If you stand and just repetedly kill someone, nothing gains, but if target is healed up or something then you can gain. There is a timer, just not sure if its 24 hours
And yes tab, your guild are welcome to come and kill me a few times. As for a quiet area, im sure my house will be fine for you. Hope theres not many of you though as my house hasnt got any big open areas in hehe  Think ive got a murder count of 4 still on one character, so ill have to neck one of you first, but after that ill be all yours. Will be drifitng around forums and studys tonight (got a bad habit of when i log on to UO or GW i stay on for the night) so might give you a bell later in the evening and we can arrange a night for it. |

Re: Gaining Justice.
I think the more murdererier (is that a word? if not I just wrote one for the books) you are, the more justice you give off too. That could just be my imagination, but I could have sworn I have gotten more gains off of big time reds, than fresh reds. I guess there really isnt a way to completely tell.

Re: Gaining Justice.
That is true
1 blip for a fresh red, 3-4 blips for a high count red. |
