Re: 2d vs 3D. Dragons in particular and portraits

i like 2d way better than 3d cause well the main thing 3d slows me down but everything in 2d looks better, besides like war horses and a few other things

I prefer 2D. The older 2D graphics are beautiful (not so sure about some of the newer creations, especially the SE and ML additions) and it does seem to run smoother.

I think 3D looks terrible, it's not fully "3D", and the interface is cumbersome (for me at least).

I play 2D. I dont like the 3D paper dolls. 3D laggs the crap out of my computer. I do like how they recently re-did 3D so the gameplay view is smaller and the options are much better in 3D but i think overall 2D looks a lot better. i'll be getting a new game pc very soon so maybe i'll give 3D another try.. but for now 2D all the way.

I found 3d to be clunky even on a fairly high end pc.

I did use it for organizing the house though...gotta love the resizable container gumps.

None of the above.. I PvP and such activity is nearly impossible in 3d.

I've PvPed in 3D, it's perfectly doable. You can get killed with any client

Hehehe.. ok.. touche'.. but if you hope to win a fight someday, the 3d client is not viable.. Its not like everyone around you is going to stop in their tracks and go "Hold on.. the casting sequence is really, really pretty, but it takes a bit longer.. give him a sec".

That's true in some cases, but you have to remember that 3D is not slow on everyone's systems. A lot of people, yes, they say that the client isn't as fast.

This debate is always a ridiculous one in my opinion....I play 2D just as much as I play 3D (depending on what I am doing) and if your machine runs it nicely, there is no difference. If your machine doesn't run 3D, oh well don't play it. But don't think that it gives other a disadvantage either.

Oh no.. don't get me wrong.. Not a single person can claim they lost a fight because they were in 3d since they have the option of playing 2d instead.

Thus my point.. as long as they give us the option of either/or before someday launching some WoW style client.. I'm all good. Besides.. as those who've played SWG with me know.. I kiss alot of walls in first person 3d games.. I'd have to retrain all my characters for crafting...

Re: 2d vs 3D. Dragons in particular and portraits

I play on the t2a client, and yes people still ask me, "what's t2a" so please don't. I play it because the newer versions of the 2D client changed monster sounds to not even sounding like what they're supposed to. The graphics are just ridiculous, and honestly I'd rather hear a roar for a dragon than hearing somebody step on a cats tail. There are pro's and also con's, but I'd rather sit through 200+ patches to keep UO the way I feel it should be. Purple llamas, white long maned horses, orange long maned horses are just a few, and also the dragon sound and pet audio's. Just my opinion and perspective.
