No Patience from the Players

Posted on UO Stratics:

Player: On March 3rd, one of the devs posted that MrTact would be releasing details of his 'Plan 3,' pvp changes "over the next few days."

Well, it's now March 13th and still no news whatsoever.

Am I the only one more than just a little bit frustrated by all of this?

CatHat: Heh - this is a prime example of why they're so hesitent about giving exact dates since getting things done right takes priority over relase dates much of the time - or if the launch date becomes higher priority - then the stuff in it gets out all buggy or things get cut from it.

Last I heard - they're still perfecting things on the test shard. Though where its at today i dunno - they mighta gotten it all sorted out or not. Publishes like this can be tricky - but they don't wanna coinciously do anything half-assed, so they're working to do it right. And i commend them for that.

No arguments from me, but the average end user doesn't seem to realize that development is work and isn't going to happen overnight.

Also, it's the whole issue about instant gratification.

Instant Gratification......if I could only have that, I would be a much happier cat.
But for now I need to work for everything as everyone should, until they become too senial to remember what they enjoy.

The problem with Instant Gratification is the lack of Satisfaction. What one gains with little effort, has little value and leaves a void which causes the need for more and more and more... none of which fills the void..... We are designed to work for our rewards, and the prize becomes more valued in the end.

This is exactly the point I've been trying to make to my g/f as since she's started playing, she's been looking at running out and buying some of the higher end items off ebay and such and while talking to her all I said was that 'you went and bought (insert artifact name here)

Now what??

And yes, many thanks to Snowy for putting it far more elequently than I could.

There's no thrill in it, no sense of satisfaction and certainly no sense of accomplishment.

*hops off his soapbox and wanders back to work*
