Re: Gardening 101

I have that one on 'speed dial'. My main crafter is also my gardener and she currently has 36 plants on their 9th day, about to turn 10. I hate it, but when they turn and I get one seed from the breeding of most of them, they will be trashed. My plant vendor almost never makes a sale anymore. I still enjoy breeding them and seeing what I will get. This week I hit it lucky, and something is going to bear Pure White seed. That keeps me going!

Re: Gardening 101

I was just checking out the site on the cross-pollinating and it's a little confusing so here goes a quick question. In the diagrams there is a 3rd gen label between the pics. Does this mean that on the 3rd time of cross pollinating from each new seed that there is a chance of getting a white/black or other color? Or do you get the change no matter the close generation type thing and that you get a chance each time you cross pollinate?

I've been gardening for a very long time now and I still have never gotten a black or a white from my garden. It's very frustrating

Re: Gardening 101

The ratio for a mutant crossing is about 1/150 pollinations in my experience that is and...
i find the best chances to be with the water plants (plain) and the ones that give resources ....
be sure to cross pol the same color plants with the same type of plants ...
example: pollinate a bright orange poppy with another bright orange poppy ...

Re: Gardening 101

ok great I will give that a try -- I used to stick with the same ones but when I didn't get anything I thought I would change it up a bit and see. I just moved into a new house so I'm going to set things up on the roof so that I can do it the way you suggest. Thanks again - wish me luck

Re: Gardening 101

I've gotten blacks several times in the time I have been gardening. I think it was 3 black ones.. I remember the first was Bullrushes and I was in awe! I've not had one in over a year now though, even though I grow about 30 new plants a month. Cross pollination has become a way of life for my gardener as she seeks the elusive White Plant!! Someday!!! A White!... Hopefully an attractive one. I really don't like some of the art for the plants very much. Still.... it's better than not having them

BTW... WildFlower... Great Avatar!! I love 'sparklies'. I always understood what the crow in 'Secret of Nimh" (SP?) was about with his love of 'sparklies'.
