Due To Recent Scamming Events..
I would like to start this topic for the tips, and discussions of preventing a scam.
This is a quote from my OLD OLD OLD Scamming Guide topic which has not yet been re-edited. So please make sure to post any sort of additions in this thread. Cobra's Guide To A Scam Free Transaction ![]() A Scam Free Tansaction! Well lets put it this way! When doing a trade, buy, or sell you need to make sure of a few things. Lets start with the basics: Please make sure of the following:
When Receiving a House Please make sure that when you have the trade window open you see a "Blue" deed which states the location and information of the house. If you receive any other sort of item, then you are not buying the house. Your buying whatever the seller has put into the trade window. Please make sure that the house deed is blue. That is the main confirmation code here. A few extra tips: Please make sure to view the item by placing your crusor over it and making sure that it is the item that you wish to receive. Make sure that everytime the trade window has closed you need ro review each piece ALL over again. Each piece needs to be viewed. One at a time. I left a few things out for the public to have a say in let me know what you think! Last edited by Queen Mum; 16th November 2005 at 04:46 PM. |

Re: Due To Recent Scamming Events..
Great idea CC .. hope others will point out a few more.
Innocently, we do things in haste everyday while playing and don't realize the consequences of our UO transactions. |

Re: Due To Recent Scamming Events..
The basic precept in having a good transaction, UO or otherwise, is BE WARY! If it seems to good to be true, it probably is....
When someone starts asking you to something that you feel is strange, ASK QUESTIONS! Ive gotten swindled a few times in UO transactions. Thankfully it wasnt any big deal, as it was typically items I wasnt going to use anyway, so I was glas for what I got not matter the worth, but not getting a "fair market value" is not usually in anyones best interests. If youre interested in selling something (or buying) that you have, exhaust all our resouces in finding out this "fair market value." Stratics is a good placeto go. Seek out your shards Forum and as what this item might typically be worth. In the corect thread if there is one, mind you. Markee Dragon is another good place to go for price checks... |

Re: Due To Recent Scamming Events..
When buying mulitple items, if the seller places several pouches or bags in the trade window, but doesn't open them for you to inspect, open each one and check the contents yourself. My only burn was in buying 5 LRC suits, each in its own bag.. He opened the first one which looked fine, when I walked away the other 4 weren't even exceptional armor.

Re: Due To Recent Scamming Events..
I'm not really comfortable doing transactions with people I don't know in uo, so I always get a friend of mine to either be there with me to inspect the stuff or just make him do the buying. I feel better having someone who knows more about uo stuff with me.

Re: Due To Recent Scamming Events..
Keep an eye out for (PM me for names, as queen mum doesnt seem to think that my knowing they are scammer,s and them haveing tried to scam me, sucseeding once and failing the other time is enough proof. I can happily go out on a girl that none of them know and get screenshots of them trying to scam me but oh no! you can edit screenshots! why the hell would i want to slur someones name if i didnt know they had actually done something wrong anyway? i know those three are scammers for any of you who actuallly saw the names before they were deleted by QM. hell i was just trying to warn you guys about scammers but obviously you only want warning about the type of scam thats going on not the actual scammers. And the one time you forget to check everything will probably be the one time you get scammed and lol to that.), they are big scammers who have moved from baja/napa to here. Dont trade with them at any cost, i actually knew and was freinds with one of them back when he was on napa under a different name.. BIG MISTAKE! he was the one who stole my AoF *shrug* tried scamming me a coupple o days ago with the black polar-bear mask.. a freind of mine stopped me being scammed
anywho keep an eye out for those 3 and tell people if they are trying to sell things to them ![]() Last edited by Gala; 18th November 2005 at 05:11 AM. Reason: "accusations without proof leads to false assumptions" |

Re: Due To Recent Scamming Events..
would be nice though if we could ...
it would help the buyer be "aware" of what is really in those bags/boxes etc ... |

Re: Due To Recent Scamming Events..
So how come I have been able to? Or was I just lucky that while I was clicking on the bags the seller was also opening them for me? *feels stupid*
