| TC9 Up with PvP Changes MrTact: I have just brought up TC9 with the following PvP changes:
- Direct damage attacks (Armor Ignore & crits on Lightning Strike) are capped at a maximum of 35 damage.
- Word of Death now (properly) does chaos damage instead of direct damage.
- Strength, Dex and Int have a hard cap of 150.
These changes are currently slated to be released with pub 38.
Additionally, I am trying a bit of an experiment with this shard. I have disabled all random number generator seeding in the server. This should have the following effects:
- The "streakiness" commonly seen with the RNG should go away. Statistical performance of the RNG over time should be closer to expectations.
- The illicit skill-raising technique known as "8x8" will unfortunately be broken by this change.
Have at it! |

I can't stand 8x8 myself and have never really done it before.. so doesn't effect me either way. From what I'm hearing of those who have gone over to Test to check out the gains... its currently taking an unbelievable number of attempts to get a gain. As one is getting ready to re-train Lockpicking on a new character, I'm getting nervous about that. I detest GGS, and I know RoT is not going to find its way on to the production shards... gah... *gets ready to spend a ton of gold on lockpicks* | |

eak! happy all my 8x8 able skills are 8x8'ed as far as i can be bothered to get them but thats not nice :/... no more 60 damage ai's with my compo bow thats evil.. there isnt any reason for me to have 50/60 damage inc bows anymore really.. might as well traid them in for 20% hit chance with hit effects and mana leech as thats what i'm gonna haveta be useing.. now im happy i didnt drop my parry or bushido for tactics as its really not that usefull for me (i hit 20-30 normal hit anyway) *giggle* hate the dex/int/str cap, just gonna go see if its the same with stam.. ok this is kinda unfair, you can still get over 150 mana/stam/hits etc.. so mages will have the same amount of mana etc.. that they can have now, but for us dexers we can have a max of 150 dex, whic i do believe means what 3-4 second heals? thats totally screwy

Ive never enjoyed 8x8... but at the same time, its always been a pretty easy way to gain skill.. I don't have a whole lot of time to play so i hope the new system isn't going to kill any chance of me developing my chars...
more than likely everything will workout better, i just don't care much for change as for the stat and damage caps.. i like the damage cap.. but the point about mage's mana seems kinda valid. not that i want to see my mana get busted down, but it does seem kinda fair...

Gains are much more predictable with the RNG no longer being seeded - no more streaks, and no more lack of gains by staying too still,so it isn't so bad training skills normally.
And with people having to gain skills legit, the rate of skill gain will be more noticeable, so they can be adjusted properly perhaps.

I've never done 8x8 so this is no problem for me. I've seen it done though and it's so boring, don't know how people could stand doing it. I'd rather go out and hunt to gain points.
