Re: teamspeak..

Nope... I'm not aware of any free ones... they suck up so much bandwidth that it would be near impossible to open one up to the public..

Re: teamspeak..

why not just host off of your machine? cant you get a TS server?

if its for your friends, then giving them the ip to connect wouldnt be a problem, right?

Re: teamspeak..

That depends on her ISP and whether or not they supply her with a static IP vs. Dynamic.. finally many home routers mask the IP's these days.. at least that was the problem I had trying to attempt that.. no one could connect to my UOAM or TS services.

Tef and I have a teamspeak server but I don't think the service is currently running.. I'll take a look when I get home tonite.. if there isn't going to be too many people, Gala, you're welcome to use ours.

Re: teamspeak..

IP's aren't to much of a problem, most IP's on a DSL/Cable line don't change all that frequently

Routers can be abit of a problem, most of the time you have to open/forward a port to make a program like Ventrillo/team speak work, otherwise the router will block any attempts to connect.

I have a router at home. All you'd have to do is forward the port that ventrillo uses and itll work fine. Thats what I did with mine.

Also, all you'd have to do is go to www.whatismyip.com. That will tell you your IP. The one that your router is using as a mask, which is the one a friend would need to use to connect to you.

And for UOAM, you dont need your own server. There is one.

ultimaonline.gamigo.net is the domain name.
i forget the port number but im sure i can find it. i think its 7784 but ill have to double check.

when you sign up using that domain name, all people have to do is use the same password (i usually used bob). anyone that logs on to that domain with the same password will log onto the same "image" of the server.

Re: teamspeak..

Yah.. that should work for Cable, DSL etc.. I had a T1 though and for some reason I just couldn't get it to work. I didn't really put much effort in to it either however.. and quickly turned to Tefret to set one up instead on my dedicated server instead. *grin*

UOAM.. I always use whatever server my guild's use or host.. pretty much the point unless your a GM trying to set one up for your members.

Re: teamspeak..

Oh and if I can get the TS server running again, I'll be happy to setup channels for those of UOF who would like to use it. Just need to know approximately how many people you expect on average to use it at the same time.
