I don't think you can classify it as normal or not... depends on your lifestyle I suppose. While I worked at home, many of my duties were automated and I only needed to oversee them, thus I'd log 5 to 8 hours in UO a day.

Now back to 9-5 I'd say I play an average of 4-5 hours depending on when I get home. Some nights I don't login and work instead.

Interesting question though.. I've heard of people who've played for 72 hours straight.. and at one time there was a pic posted of a family's "UO Room" with several computers and the entire family playing at one time.

It's not a game, its an obsession.. ;)

I know during the height of my UO fun (between LBR & UO:SE) I would average 5 hours a night on workdays and probably 8-12 on each weekend day/night.

Now I'm not sure. I'm back to about 2 hours a night, 3 or 4 nights a week. I just finished a month off. So we'll see how much I get back to. Somehow i just got bored one day.......

It really is cheap entertainment. For the price of 4 accounts you can't even pay for one good evening of drugs and hookers.

Go with meth and street hookers... much cheaper than cocaine and escort services..

well i work 8-6..then average 5 hours after..more of course on weekends..i think im average...hehe

There have been some days when I only got off UO for food and toilet breaks. 12-18 hour UO days were not uncommon. During the AoS launch and the housing rush on Europa I was online for 36 hours.

When things are interesting, I can easily spend all day in UO. If I had to average it out ... I'd say 3 hours a day over the last 3+ years would not be far off the mark.

I think I'd be much lower then that. It took me 2 years just to GM my first skill. And I think that was mining! Ha! And right now, I only have 1 character I would say is a 'done' character.. All of my other character are still gaining some kind of skill.

@Dev - Yup.. that's a good point.. This weekend is a good example.. there's an event or two just about every night through Halloween. Today I got 5 hours logged in.. but that's partially the fact that I'm training poisoning again on another character. *moans*

@Tef - Don't feel bad.. My T-hunter spent so much time running around socializing for two years that she never made it past 75 in any skill... Finally gave in and just snagged an advanced character token and re-did her.

I wish that invormation was displayed somewhere. I would like to see my "stats"

Honestly I'm not sure where I stand, like Dev and Spider long days and then some time away. Never closed an account though. I'd say I'm lower. As far as I know I think the leader may be around 13k hours.


Damn, If UO was around in 1975 I may never had gotten married! I know a place in Atlantic City that if you ask for your chicken in a certain way, the breasts and thighs would get deliveried and sometimes it was actually hot! (So they tell me :-P)

i started in december 1997 (beta account) and still dont hate it yet.
(and hope i never do) i think the thing that keep me from burn out was playing only about 10 to 12 hours a week. heck some nights I don't login and just do something else.
