Male/Female Auction to Benefit the Red Cross

As many of you may remember, during the Tsunami disaster, Crazy Joe started the UO Gold for Red Cross campaign. All gold raised across all shards is auctioned on ebay and the money sent to the Red Cross. The effort didn't end with the Tsunami and now we find a need again. To date, since it's creation, Gamer's Charity has donated $8,748.29 to the Red Cross. This month alone $574 has been donated to the Red Cross for Hurricane Katrina Relief.

There are several telethons, fund raisers and vendor houses going on the various shards and at least two on Catskills. During the Tsunami drive, we had some very successful fundraising efforts here on Catskills. One of them was the male/female auction. Thanks to the generous donations of time and gold, we raised $32 Million gold in two nites. All of which went to Gamer's Charity.

We would like to hold this event again. SOOOOOOOOOO, ladies and gents, get out there and hunt up some gold and come bid on the UO man or woman of your choice on Wednesday, September 28th or Thursday, September 29th at 8:00 p.m. Eastern each nite at the Skara Brae Community Center.

The Ladies Auction will take place on Wednesday nite with our Males being auctioned off on Thursday evening. If you are interested in volunteering to be auctioned, please contact Anne Nomilly (ICQ 10600805) or Des (ICQ 134235389). In your authorization request, please indicate it's for the Red Cross Donation Auction.

I suppose you'd like to know what you are bidding on? [smile] Each winning bidder will be entitled to two hours of time with their "purchase" to be worked out by both parties. During this time, you can have the person do almost anything (hunting with you, lumberjacking, resource gathering, sweeping the floors, teaching you the workings of a new skill that they are expert in, etc.. Some things that are NOT allowed unless specifically worked out to the agreement of both parties are anything with suggestive or sexual overtones, hunting/pvp'ing in Fel (especially on chars not equipped to defend themselves), etc.

If you want more information on this great cause, you can go to http://www.gamerscharity.com/. There have also been numerous write ups in gaming magazines and main stream media. If you check on UHall, you can find links to stories about raising real life money in the virtual world and Gamer's Charity is mentioned in many.

Let's see if we can beat our previous record and have some fun at the same time. Our friends and neighbors need our help and this is a great way to make a difference.
